Yak Ghee A2: Pure Mountain Ghee Naturally Richer High-Altitude Himalayan Yak Milk

Yak Ghee A2 is made from the milk of free-roaming yaks raised in the high-altitude pastures of the Himalayas. Yaks graze on wild mountain grasses at elevations few other dairy animals can tolerate, and their milk is naturally A2 type — meaning it contains only the A2 beta-casein protein, which some people find easier to digest than the A1 protein common in conventional dairy.

Why Yak Milk Is Different

Himalayan yaks live and graze at altitudes where the air is thinner and the grasses are wild and varied. This diet and environment produce a milk that is naturally higher in fat than typical cow’s milk, which is part of why Yak Ghee A2 has a denser, richer texture and a more pronounced flavor. Because yak milk yields less volume than cow’s milk, this ghee is produced in smaller batches, reflected in its premium price.

How It’s Made

Like our other ghees, Yak Ghee A2 is slow-simmered from cultured butter using traditional Himalayan methods, separating the golden clarified butterfat from milk solids and water. The result is a shelf-stable, richly aromatic ghee with a distinctive golden colour.

How to Use It

Use it exactly as you would any ghee — for sautéing, in traditional cooking, drizzled over rice or dal, or stirred into warm milk. Its richer flavor means a little goes a long way.
